On Friday, September 20, Bora will join a Global Climate Strike, inspired by the millions of youth worldwide that have led regular school strikes ever since Greta Thunberg started protesting outside Sweden’s parliament building. We recognize that time is running out to drastically change the way we do business if we have any hope of avoiding the worst consequences of climate change.
As a firm, we’ve made great strides in reducing the carbon footprint of our practice and our work, but as members of the global community we must go beyond this purview. We are enthusiastically joining other architects that are demanding climate justice for everyone, a rapid end to a global energy economy based on fossil fuels, and to show our support for the needs of future generations.
As a show of solidarity, our office will be closed from 10:30-11:30am on September 20 to coincide with the PDX Climate Strike at City Hall. Staff are encouraged to attend and participate, and we hope our peers in the local architecture community will join us.
