University of Oregon, Building for Environment & Society

Eugene, OR

I want to thank you for your very thoughtful research and responsive approach for this building. We are thrilled by the opportunity to teach and work in it.

Professor, Clark Honors College and Environmental Studies Program

The new Building for Environment & Society will be a signature classroom facility for the University of Oregon, shaping the heart of campus. Envisioned as an interdisciplinary and collaborative learning environment, the BES will serve as an intentional confluence of programs activating a dialogue of environmental, economic and social components of sustainability.

A design concept of interlocking elements will reflect the synergies between teaching and learning, and the environment and society. Integrating mass timber and other healthy materials throughout the building will reinforce the University’s reputation as a leader in environmental stewardship.
