The Innovative Classroom Building was built on the site formerly known as The Grove, an outdoor venue of unique historical significance at Texas A&M. The Grove was torn down in 2003 after the student body outgrew its size and the activities it once enjoyed grew increasingly unfamiliar to campus newcomers.

After spending time in Texas A&M’s vast archives, we envisioned designing a piece that would honor the spirit and activities of The Grove, all while making use of natural resources salvaged from the beloved gathering area. The resulting Grove Wall we integrated into the building’s 2^nd floor is a 34-foot-long art piece routed from oak trees from the original site. This wood provided the perfect backdrop for a typographic calendar commemorating the Grove events that kept Aggies immersed in school spirit for over 60 years.

The piece is a nostalgic homage to history in the modern building, reminding passersby that even as the campus evolves into the future, its values of tradition and academic excellence remain core to Aggie culture.
