Radium Performing Arts Center

Alameda, CA

The stunning performing arts center will fuel the future of the performing arts by connecting today’s artists with the artists of tomorrow.

Christopher Seiwald,
Founding Director, Radium Presents

Dramatically positioned at the edge of the San Francisco Bay, the new Radium Performing Arts Center will be a community jewel showcasing the work of local and international artists through music, dance, opera, theater, and literary arts. With breathtaking views of the San Francisco skyline and Bay, the Center aspires to revitalize the Alameda community—historically a naval air station—as a regional destination and cultural anchor.

The Performing Arts Center will feature a 500-seat multi-use theatre with state-of-the-art acoustics, as well as a “second space” performance venue, a rehearsal room, audience and performance support spaces, and a café. The double-height lobby will open into a generous outdoor events plaza and the existing waterfront park beyond, while the building’s upper levels will offer outdoor terraces providing sweeping views to the north, south and west.

Envisioned as a dynamic presence in Alameda that will engage the vibrancy of the arts, encouraging gathering even independent of performance, the Center will complement the historic character and aviation history of Alameda while connecting with its powerful natural surroundings.
