Virginia Tech Integrated Arts Center

Blacksburg, VA

The integrated arts complex is a vital node in the fine arts precinct on the Virginia Tech campus. Located along a busy boundary between the campus and neighborhood, the renovated and expanded home for music, art and drama advances the precinct’s identity within the campus and the larger community.

The renovation of a former administrative building, Henderson Hall, consolidates the previously scattered departments of theater, music, graphic design and art history. The 36,000-square-foot facility includes faculty and graduate student offices, graphic design studios, computer labs, a lighting design studio, a scenic design studio, a lecture hall, a slide library, and multimedia presentation rooms. Acoustically isolated music faculty studios and music practice rooms fill the remainder of the renovated space.

Theatre 101, a new 8,000-square-foot black box theater, replaces an existing parking lot to the southeast of Henderson Hall and includes a rehearsal room, dressing rooms and support spaces.
