Adapted from the Multnomah County standard, the signage at the Fernhill Health Center was designed to minimize stress for visitors navigating the clinic. By utilizing icons associated with the clinic’s departments, accompanying text in English and Spanish, and dynamic color contrast, the wayfinding system is accessible to Southeast Portland’s diverse population.

Large dimensional text greets visitors upon entry to indicate the check-in desk and pharmacy, overhead directional signs lead visitors to exam rooms, and room signs with corresponding icons signify arrival points. To support flexible room occupancy, exam room signage is accompanied by a whiteboard for health professionals to mark their active workspace.
