Jeanie Lai, AIA, IIDA, NOMA

by Emily Russell

Jeanie is a design principal at Bora who leads with intention, openness and resourcefulness, seeking beauty and simplicity through the rigor of design research and the exploration of ideas that unite people, cultures and places. Bringing a holistic perspective as both an architect and interior designer, she approaches design through the lens of the human experience, creatively weaving interior and exterior spaces with compelling concepts, craft and materiality.

Upholding design as an expression of care for our well-being, Jeanie has led Bora’s most innovative work in academic environments, collaborative workspaces, and civic and cultural centers. Key projects include the new mass timber Portland Community College Opportunity Center @ 42nd Avenue, Multnomah County Library’s new mass timber Holgate Library, and the Texas A&M University Innovative Learning Classroom Building. Jeanie also led the design for Bora’s new award-winning studio at Volta.
