IIDA Oregon Honors Sarah Weber with Legacy Award

by Emma Abramowitz

Last week, several of us attended the annual IIDA Oregon Chapter Design Excellence Awards celebration. Along with all the spectacular projects being recognized, the evening was particularly meaningful for our very own Sarah Weber. On behalf of Bora, the IIDA Oregon Chapter, and as a friend, I would like to extend a huge congratulations to Sarah for her receipt of the 2018 IIDA Oregon Chapter Legacy Award!

For those who are unfamiliar with it, the Legacy Award recognizes and honors an individual, company, or organization whose contributions have advanced and enriched the Interior Design profession. Recipients exemplify IIDA values including advocacy, mentorship, design innovation and sustainable leadership.

Sarah enthusiastically and thoughtfully embodies these values in all aspects of her service and practice. She has advocated for Interior Design not only as a project leader here at Bora, but throughout the community as a collaborator with other firms, fabricators and makers. Her positive energy is contagious, and her bright personality, passion and confidence are felt by everyone she works with, motivating people on Sarah’s projects to pursue excellence.

This leads me to her contributions as an outstanding mentor, not only to me, but to many of our board members. Sarah has an extremely approachable personality. She is always willing to share her keen design sense with others as they grow in their careers. I personally know many interior designers and architects alike who look to Sarah for feedback and constructive criticism, knowing she will respond with honesty and insight.

Without a doubt, Sarah has been paramount to IIDA Oregon’s growth and success. She led the initiative to digitize all our files, spearheaded a committee to shape the Western Regional Student Design Charette (covering 5 regional IIDA chapters), and brought our “State of the Industry” survey into fruition. Thanks to her hard work and dedication, the IIDA Oregon Chapter is thriving – and we know there’s so much more to come.

Thank you for everything you do, Sarah!
