Bora is proud to report our progress towards the AIA 2030 commitment for the twelfth year. In 2023, our portfolio achieved an energy reduction of 54%, including two public libraries and an affordable housing project that surpassed the 80% target reduction. It was during this time that we completed a design for a 21-story all-electric residential tower, a first for downtown Portland.
We realized significant reductions after reporting the embodied carbon of our portfolio for the first time. Overall, a third of our projects are renovations that maintain existing structures, and two-thirds are structured in responsibly harvested wood.
Over the next few years, we’ll learn from our successes and continue to innovate as we drive down these numbers even further in order to become completely carbon neutral by 2030.
