Sustainability Director Corey Squire has been recognized with the 2025 AIA Young Architects Award! Corey is one of five individuals selected nationwide for this award, which honors individuals licensed less than 10 years for their exceptional leadership in the profession.
Corey has long been a rising star in the industry, enthusiastically championing measurable, sustainable practices and how architects can integrate carbon reduction, health, and equity into design. He co-authored the AIA Framework for Design Excellence and Toolkit, establishing national standards for design excellence, and co-created AIA tools that integrate performance-based metrics into awards programs. In his career he has been influential to six COTE Top Ten-winning projects and has contributed to work achieving Net Zero and Living Building certifications.
A frequent speaker on the merits of sustainable design, Corey inspires communities across the nation toward environmental stewardship and is an active mentor who believes in everyone’s ability to effect positive change. His recent book, “People, Planet, Design,” builds upon his career (and life) mantra: “Sustainable design is good design, and everyone can do it.”
Corey is passionate and relentless in his pursuit to redefine the architectural profession through a high-performance lens. His belief in a better world for all of us drives excellence in our everyday as we seek to leave our planet healthier for future generations.
