Reimagining the workplace for Airbnb’s Seattle team post-pandemic, Bora and SpacesOf helped the company right-size its original office designed for 450 staff to a space accommodating a hybrid workforce of under 100–with the flexibility to host larger company events. The new office is in a historic timber and masonry building just steps away from Seattle’s Union Station and sweeping views of Puget Sound.

The heart of the space is an open gathering area anchored by a metal mesh screen surrounding the mezzanine level. The screen, inspired by the iconic geometry of the nearby Seattle Central Library, defines the central gathering space while introducing an industrial, layered quality complementing the building’s original brick and timber character.

The program supports both focused and collaborative work: open workstations, dedicated phone rooms, and a full-service culinary kitchen sit alongside the flexible event floor, enabling seamless transitions between a typical workday and a full team gathering. Material selections throughout balance the warmth of Pioneer Square’s historic fabric with the clean, contemporary language of the neighborhood.
