Oregon Paid Family Medical Leave Signed into Law in Bora’s Studio

by Karim Hassanein

This morning Governor Kate Brown signed the Oregon Paid Family Leave Bill into law in Bora’s own Design Lab, making Oregon just the 8th state to pass such legislation. It is the most inclusive and accessible bill in the country, ensuring paid leave for part-time and low-income workers and is funded by both employees and employers via a payroll tax of less than 1%.

Since implementing the first Paid Family Leave Policy by an architecture firm in Oregon in 2016, Bora has been a dedicated advocate for passing a state-wide bill, which provides critical support to families when they need it most. Principal Amy Donohue has joined other progressive companies and community leaders to help bring this important effort to fruition, and here’s hoping more companies – and states – follow suit!
