Faubion has only just opened its doors, and already the new school is making its presence felt in the education landscape of Oregon.
Last week, Governor Kate Brown chose Faubion School as the backdrop for signing four education-related bills, including legislation to establish an advisory group that will identify where current statewide social studies fail to recognize the histories, contributions, and perspectives of ethnic minorities and social minorities.
PPS Board member Julie Esparza Brown and Interim Superintendent Yousef Awwad spoke on behalf of the district to recognize the importance of the new laws. The short video below was produced by PPS, and speaks to the significance of both this legislation and the model set up by Faubion and Concordia University’s partnership.
