Bora Architects Named AIA Northwest + Pacific Region Firm of the Year!

by Bora Architects

Bora Architects is honored to be the recipient of the 2016 Firm of the Year Award for the AIA Northwest & Pacific Region. This award recognizes not only a consistent pattern of excellence in design, but also a firm’s dedication to extending the boundaries of traditional architectural practice, long record of community engagement, and commitment to creating an exceptional work environment.

Given the number of firms designing beautiful and thought provoking work in the Pacific Northwest, this award from our peers is both meaningful and humbling. We are indebted to our employees, past and present, whose passion and talent has made this milestone possible; to the many consultants who have joined us in the creation of successful projects; and to our clients who have trusted us to provide design solutions that meet their needs and enhance their environment.

We have called Portland our home since 1958. From the beginning, we’ve been guided by core values of design, sustainability, innovation, and positive social impact. In 1995, we designed and built a beach house in Neskowin on the Oregon Coast, as a place of retreat and relaxation for all our employees. In 2015 we became one of the first architecture firms in Oregon to implement a Paid Family Leave Policy, following our convictions to lead by example.

We believe that exceptional architecture does not simply emerge from hard work and late nights, but from creating a culture that supports our employees in their professional lives and respects their commitments beyond the office. It is heartening to be recognized for the culture we’ve worked hard to cultivate, along with the spaces we’ve created. We are looking forward to continuing the Bora tradition of architecture at the intersection of good design and good living.
